With everything from conferences to cocktail parties, the Monaco Yacht Show is an annual display of opulence and luxury. But the real stars of the show sit in the harbour, sitting pretty and turning heads. So, if you’re lucky enough to be jetting off to the principality this September, which vessels should you be chartering a course for?

Athena

At 90m, Burgess’ Athena is one of the largest sailing yachts ever created. Currently on sale for £70 million, she is a classic three mast schooner trimmed out with modern technology. Interior designer Rebecca Bradley created a plush, traditional look for all of the rooms and cabins when the yacht was refit in 2011 – and the dark lacquered wood she used helps give Athena the feel of a vessel from a bygone era of sea voyages.

Elements

The 80 metre Elements is the new kid on the block – or in the harbour. Designed to exhibit supreme quality, ultimate performance and the ambition to create the perfect yacht, builders Yachtley gave the vessel a classically-styled steel hull and aluminium superstructure, fabricated to the highest standards. Well-designed on-board systems and superb attention to detail mean that although Elements only debuted this year, she is already a yacht many will never forget.

Sybarite

Perini Navi’s biggest and most challenging yacht since 2006’s Maltese Falcon, the new 70 metre Sybarite has already been turning heads online – with many eagerly anticipating its arrival at the Monaco Yacht Show. Designed to be a high performance ketch, the Sybarite is capable of regatta winning performance, thanks to its lightweight carbon fibre rig.

Recently refitted and extended, Camper and Nicholson’s ICON is a spectacular 67.5 metre super yacht rammed with the all the latest technological gadgetry. Maybe

The largest yacht ever designed and built in Spain, Camper and Nicholson’s 59 metre Maybe has all the features you’d expect of a custom built megayacht. In its centre is an impressive spiral staircase that sweeps around the elevator connecting each level. Maybe is very spacious, with six luxurious bedrooms that can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests – and the helipad on the rear gives this yacht the edge amongst those looking for a little more adventure.

Blue Ice

Designed by the world famous Nuvolari & Lenard, and constructed in the American shipyard Palmer Johnson, Blue Ice is a distinctive masterpiece with a striking blue exterior.
