The vast, luxurious ‘The Manor’ is not only the most expansive home in Los Angeles, but it’s also just become the most expensive – in the whole of America. The home, now worth an astronomical $200 million, was built in 1991 on five acres. Complete with a staggering 123 rooms, including seven bedrooms, the house is a vast 56,500 square feet.
The French chateau-style home was built in 1990 by the late television producer, Aaron Spelling. After his death, his wife listed the mansion for $150 million in 2008 and it remained on the market until it was bought for $85 million by Formula One heiress Petra Ecclestone in 2011.
Ecclestone made huge renovations to the before putting it on the market this year, employing a reported 500 people in the process. No expensive was spared and no feature too great for the multi-millionaire; the 30-foot ceilings in the entrance hall, the wine cellar and tasting room, the bowling alley, the gym, the beauty, massage and tanning rooms and the 7,000 square-foot master suite (complete with its own kitchen) are just a couple of the incredible features that make up for the hefty price tag.
The Playboy Mansion was last year valued as the most expensive home in America at $100 million, but The Manor well and truly blows this out of the water – and, if you’ve got $200 million, it’s ready to be moved into immediately.
