Every once in a while, we come across a home, car or item of clothing worth obsessing over. And today it comes in the form of Torquay House, one of the coolest properties we’ve come across in a while. Set on the Victorian Surf Coast of Australia, this newly completed house is the very definition of a modern-day bachelor pad.
Its surroundings are as beautiful as its interiors, with the idea being that it’s a walled sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. It backs into wetlands and a golf course and is hemmed in on both sides, giving new owners incredible views of a more secluded coastline. Now for the good stuff: the decor. Rooms are vast and as soon as you enter the house it opens up into a double gallery space that’s gazed on one side so that you can see a private courtyard that draws in a northern light that fills the whole house.
Worried that the home is a little too…concrete? Fear not, because the roof gardens on the top level provide the perfect balance of green to all rooms and reflect off the concrete eaves. Materials are rich and strong, and vary from a fine timber to a heavy brass – of the which work together to create the perfect storm of an impeccable bachelor pad.
